Abstract: The genus Zea L., characterised by male and female spikelets born in different inflorescence of the same
plant, is often divided in two groups, the first includes the Maize or corn (Zea mays L.), and other, the wild Teosinites. Zea mexicana (Schrad.) Kuntze, belonging to the Teosinite group originated in Mexico but introduced in
many other parts of the world is reported here for the first time from Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
